Boulder Valley Velodrome offers programming for everyone—junior, senior and masters riders, beginners and long-time riders, those interested in a casual workout to the highly competitive.
We are finalizing our 2017 programming! Look for an update in the weeks to come. The track will be open for the season later this spring when weather allows. In the meantime, these are the types of offerings you can expect for certified riders:
- Open track
- Special training sessions
- Structured training sessions
- Track Games social riding session
- Women’s session
Open track is exactly what it sounds like. Spin some laps, crank out intervals, or follow a workout you or a coach developed. Train alone, ride with others who happen to be there at the same time, or make plans to ride with friends and teammates. It’s rider’s choice.
All we ask is that you please communicate your plans with other riders. This helps everyone safely share the track.
When: Times vary; please check the calendar
Periodically, we host specialized training sessions such as advanced structured training, motorpacing, or Track National Championship prep classes.
When: Availability varies; please check the calendar and keep an eye on our newsletter and social media pages for upcoming opportunities
Structured training sessions are meant to help further the comfort and skills of beginning and intermediate riders and are open to everyone. These fun sessions include a combination speed-training, technical drills and endurance work. They are led by USA Cycling-licensed coaches.
This self-directed session hosted by BVV Founding Member Don Hobbs is intended as a fun, social ride that isn’t racing-oriented. Each session will begin with a nice 50- to 60-lap windup, dropping to the line with 20 laps to go and gradually ramping up the speed. A variety of drills will follow.
Cost: Included with BVV membership
This structured training session is coached by USA Cycling-licensed coaches Cari Higgins and Jennifer Sharp, or one of our other experienced women track riders. The session is intended to provide a comfortable and encouraging environment in which female-identifying riders of all levels can get a great workout, grow their knowledge of the sport, and improve their skills.
Also be on the lookout for women-only track taster sessions and women-only certification throughout the season. Don’t see one on the calendar? Contact us to ask about the next one or request it.
USAC races (i.e., Saturday Time Trials and Thursday Night Race Series), sprints and other unsanctioned races will be held in 2017. We are finalizing the schedule and will announce before the track opens for the season.
