We worked the numbers from many angles and it is clear that to be successful, your involvement is needed at this level. We searched for a dollar amount that would allow us to unflinchingly state “There is no way you can lose”. With a velodrome up and running, every bicycle related business on the Front Range will benefit well beyond this initial investment. There are local cyclists who drive to Colorado Springs with enough frequency that they would actually save money by becoming a Founding Member.
We came up with a list of individuals and businesses that could probably see their way to a $5000 commitment and this group is the focus of our first round of fund raising. Rather than wait for some corporate entity to come in big, why don’t we all come in small? If we organize 200 people we have a cool mil and we can start pushing dirt immediately. * The time from your payment to opening day will be added to the five years. For example, if the track is not finished until eight months after your commitment, your membership will be extended by eight months.
** Track access is at the heart of your Founding Membership. Your options for getting track time will be the most abundant and flexible of any level. Founding Members can ride virtually any time they want to. They can join in during other club’s workouts, or they can train on their own during any instructional class. There will also be exclusive training sessions for Founding Members.
*** The velodrome will have a large fleet of quality, well-tuned track bikes on hand at all times.
**** To be used during “Founding Member Only” track time.
***** The ability to transfer Founding Member benefits to another person each year adds flexibility to this membership. Perhaps a company would like to award their “Employee of the Year” with a year long Founding Membership. For those of you who donate to fund raising auctions every year, this would surely be a hot item to raise money for your cause.
